Liz Jenkins’ Book ChoicesLiz Jenkins of A Fresh Space: home staging and thoughtful organization, www.afreshspace.com, will be giving us her recently read book choices each month at our luncheons and we’ll post them here also: July 2008 Luncheon: Julie Morgenstern is the author of the following recommended books: Organizing From The Inside Out, Time Management From The Inside Out, Never Check E –Mail In The Morning, and (the one I brought with me) Making Work Work: New Strategies for Surviving and Thriving At The Office. Her website is www.juliemorgenstern.com but the books are available at the library and on places like Barnes & Noble and Amazon. They are also available on audiotape for those who like to listen (as I know many of the members do). These are my favorite organizing books as they really address the root causes and cures, not just a bunch of 10 step lists. The other book I mentioned, for kids, is called The Organized Student by Donna Goldberg. Good for all ages of school kids and their parents.
The Power of a Positive No: How To Say NO and Still Get To YES by William Ury, co-author of Getting To Yes The Good Girls Guide To Negotiating by Leslie Whitaker and Elizabeth Austin I’ve also attached the two articles I’ve written so far. The first is the filing one and the second is one I’m planning on submitting to Williamson Parent. You don’t have to read them both but there’s a contrast between the two.
Send: The Essential Guide to Email for Office and Home by David Shipley and Will Schwalbe Bit Literacy: Productivity in the Age of Information and Email Overload by Mark Hurst (he also has a blog: http://www.goodexperience.com/blog/) The blogs Liz mentioned are: www.thethoughtfulconsumer.blogspot.com (Cynthia Friedlob)
